China MEP publishes new statistics regarding the scientific research record for new chemical substances

17 Feb 2012, Chinese Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) has published new statistics regarding the scientific research record for new chemical substances. This disclosure was made according to the article 22 of the Provisions on Environmental Administration of New Chemical Substances in China (hereinafter called “Provisions”).

Between October and December 2011, 227 acceptance numbers for the application of scientific research record have been issued by MEP.  Please note that only the acceptance number, acceptance date, the name of notifier and the number of substances are published. The names of substances are not publicized. The statistics for scientific research records can be found below:(available in Chinese)

The numbers of scientific research records issued since Nov 2010 can be found as below:

  • 225 Nov 2010 - Mar 2011
  • 225 April - June
  • 287 July - September
  • 227 Octorber - Dec 2011

As regulated by the Provisions, new chemical substances used for scientific research with an annual quantity lower than 0.1 ton or if the sample is to be tested in laboratories in China shall be notified under scientific research record to MEP.
